Academics

The Office of the Provost provides the foundation for the academic success of all Mason students by fostering the development and growth of the university’s academic programs.

Quality programs backed by reliable accreditation are hallmarks of a world-class university. The Provost’s Office emphasizes high-quality teaching and learning experiences, and supports deans, faculty, and students as they pursue their scholarly goals. We ensure the integrity, rigor, and transparency of academic programs and provide leadership to critical areas tied to student success.

Academic Areas

The progression from undergraduate to graduate education, supplemented by global and study abroad experiences, forms a comprehensive educational journey at Mason.

Students receive a strong academic foundation, specialized knowledge, advanced skills, and a global perspective, preparing them to navigate the complexities of an ever-changing and interconnected world. Our colleges and schools cover all academic areas, as well as providing students the opportunity to craft their own course of study.

Ensuring Quality

Beyond reputation, Mason rigorously pursues and maintains state and national accreditations, providing further certification of quality, usefulness, and application of the degrees we offer.

The Provost’s Office serves as the university’s liaison to the State Council for Higher Education in Virginia (SCHEV) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
