Undergraduate Council

The Undergraduate Council—composed of faculty and staff representing schools, colleges, and departments—focuses on the university's undergraduate curriculum.

The Undergraduate Council reviews and approves the creation, modification, or discontinuation of:

  • Undergraduate academic degree programs
  • Certificate programs
  • New bachelor’s/accelerated master’s programs
  • Minors
  • Courses

The multi-disciplinary panel also monitors undergraduate program assessment and advises the Staff Senate on undergraduate academic policies.

Meetings and Deadlines

Monthly meetings, held from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. during the academic year, are open to the George Mason University community.

Meeting agendas are determined one week prior to the scheduled meeting. Agenda items must be submitted two weeks before the meeting date. If they’re received after the deadline, submissions will be covered at the next meeting.

Read the agenda and minutes from previous meetings.
