Dear colleagues,

As we approach the winter break, I’m delighted to share that I have now visited each of our colleges, schools, and administrative areas. Meeting so many of you in your unique spaces has been immensely rewarding, and I am genuinely thankful for the time, openness, and insights you shared during our conversations.

One question I’m frequently asked is what has stood out to me the most since joining George Mason. My answer has been the same each time: it’s the people. Every interaction has revealed a community of dedicated individuals who are deeply passionate about their work and fully committed to serving our students and advancing the university’s mission. Simply put, you’re an incredible community. Your willingness to welcome me, engage thoughtfully, ask hard questions, and roll up your sleeves to make a difference underscores what makes George Mason such a special place.

This dedication is particularly evident in our ongoing work on the budget model redesign project. This is a complex and critical undertaking, one that will pave the way for more strategic, transparent resource allocation across the university. We’re dedicated to open communication throughout this process, and we encourage everyone to ask questions, provide feedback, and share your input to make this model work for George Mason.

With this final Provost’s Message of the semester and as we head into the holiday season, I want to express my gratitude for being part of such a welcoming and inspiring community. I look forward to building on these early connections and working alongside you to ensure that George Mason continues to thrive. Thank you again for your warm welcome and for all you do to make this university such an extraordinary place.

Sincerely,

James Antony
Provost and Executive Vice President
